Abstract:

This study evaluated the association between the STOP-BANG questionnaire score and the incidence of postsurgical complications in patients undergoing surgery at the General Zone Hospital (HGZ) No. 20 in Puebla. Two hundred eighty-six patients were included, with the STOP-BANG questionnaire administered prior to surgery and monitoring for the appearance of complications in the immediate postoperative period. Although 49.3% of patients presented an intermediate risk according to the STOP-BANG and 44.8% experienced complications (mainly obstruction and/or desaturation), no statistically significant association was found between the questionnaire score and the frequency of these complications (r = -0.124, p = 0.37).
