Tuberculosis remains a major contributor to illness and death globally. This research was undertaken to assess the prevalence, and associated risk factors of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in individuals suspected of having tuberculosis. A mixed method study design was applied to evaluate the risk factors and prevalence was detected through laboratory testing using the GeneXpert diagnostic method between December 2024 and March 2025. A total of 30 presumptive TB patients were included for quantitative data by face to face interview and 5 service providers and 4 tuberculosis infected patients for qualitative data using indeepth interview. The GeneXpert MTB assay was used to detect the presence of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Among participants, 50% tested positive for tuberculosis. The average prevalence of tuberculosis infection during the study period was 15% approximately. 33.33% was observed in patients aged over 60 years and above. Risk factor analysis indicated significant associations with smoking (40%) and diabetes (36.67%). The study highlights a notable prevalence of tuberculosis and associated risk factors in the Banskhali region of Chittagong district Bangladesh.
