Abstract:

Background: Vitamin D deficiency is a widespread health concern across the Indian subcontinent, affecting 70% to 100% of the general population [10]. While traditional oral vitamin D3 formulations—such as tablets, granules, and capsules are widely used, they often face challenges related to absorption, bioavailability, and patient compliance. Ultra Nano Solution nanotechnology-based vitamin D3 (UNS D3) formulations offer enhanced bioavailability and stability. However, healthcare professionals' perspectives are essential in evaluating the clinical relevance and impact of such formulations (UNS D3) to assess its practical benefits and role in improving patient outcomes.

Objective: This survey-based study aimed to assess the preferences and perceptions of healthcare professionals regarding the Ultra Nano Solution of Vitamin D3 (UNS D3), a newly patented nanotechnology-based formulation over traditional formulations.

Methods: This survey was conducted among 154 gynecologists and orthopedics experts across India. The survey assessed the utilization of vitamin D3 formulations, with a focus on UNS D3 formulations in the patients with deficiency/insufficiency/maintenance dose.

Results: The majority of respondents (96.1%) preferred oral solution formulations of vitamin D3 over traditional forms such as capsules and tablets. Key factors influencing their choice included proven better absorption (25.3%), enhanced stability (11.0%), and increased patient compliance (19.5%). Notably, 97.4% of participants rated absorption and stability as highly important factors in supplement selection. The major reasons for preferring the Ultra Nano Solution were faster absorption (33.77%), better patient compliance (26.62%), and better bioavailability (11.4%). A total of 87.0% of respondents were convinced to recommend UNS D3 due to its combined technological advancements, dosage convenience, and superior absorption. Additionally, 77.3% preferred the ultra-nano solution of vitamin D3 for its positive patient outcomes, followed by 42.9% who chose it for being a research-based formulation.

Conclusion: The study highlights healthcare professionals' strong preference for oral liquid formulations, particularly nanotechnology-based solutions like UNS D3, due to their superior absorption, stability, and patient compliance. These findings underscore the potential of innovative ultra-nano formulations to address the widespread issue of vitamin D deficiency more effectively than conventional supplements.
